Not the greatest sword swinging sim but it's coming along. The cheering mechanic is pretty fun and the chariot races are amazing.. Ever since the days of colosseum road to freedom i have loved gladiatorial combat games, this game is definiutely curbing my need for that, it's great excersise and great fun. it's not perfect in some aspects and of course could do with some improvements but it's definitely something for everyone on vr. I gave this game time to improve, but seems it wasn't enough. This game suffers from huge bugs like a tiger I was fighting flying into 2d crowd and getting stuck from a swing to just having an awful combat engine. This game is just an arena game, but can't even get that right. It makes the combat engine in Vanishing Realms seem like a tripple A game. It would make an ok free title, but as it is I can't recommend this to anyone.. Hello Fellow VR Friends, With a lot of games on the Vive, it’s hard to find a title that makes you come back for more. Welcome to Gladius. The game developer was kind enough to give me a chance to explore his dream of making Gladiator game. When I tried this game for the first time, immediately I found myself in a presence of being a Gladiator. This VR experience is diffcult to accomplish because of the complexity of detail and he hit is right on the nail. The atmosphere was dark and mysterious, the weapons selection possibilities seemed to be more than I could ever imagine (most are locked now during development or can be unlocked as you level up). You got a large variety of helmets, shields and weapons to arm your Gladiator into battle. In a short time, I figured out the controls and jumped straight into the trainings grounds and was blown away. I was ready with shield and sword in hand battling my wits against different skilled opponents. Talk about opponents, the variety is never dull. I was battling legionaries, skeletons, tigers, a Minotaur and more! What I really liked about it was the body animations and details. Everything from head decapitation, brutal sword clashes and banging shield against shield was on par. I could only last a few opponents before I had to take a break and catch my breath. This game, my VR friends, has tons of potential in Early Access and beyond.To be straight and honest, the developer is excited to learn from the community about what works in this game and what doesn’t and wants you to enjoy every moment of the glory. If you purchase this game, you will not be disappointed. If you love a good physical interactive VR Gladiator game, you won’t be disappointed. Nothing like raising your hands in VR, hearing the crowd go wild as you vanquished your enemies, and watching them throw food at your as reward. It's the little details things that make VR rememberable. Living the life of a Gladiator in ancient Rome its amazing. It has that kind of magic. So far, this is the best meele game for VR and i tryd em all. From Sairento to Gorn, tales of glory, Raw Data and Swordmaster VR.This is the only meele combat that real feels "right" and you can actualy dual wield in it.For example, its possible to block a sword strike with the left sword, while you hit back with the right one, which makes you kinda feel like archilles himself.The game is all about fighting in a big colosseum across several "days. Each day has a different setting. Day 1 is regular combat vs gladiators/tigers, while day 2 is set in egypth with skeletons as enemys and so on. There are 3 difficulty settings which realy change how the AI fights. Beside the colosseum, there is also an smaller arena, challenge mode, training mode and the armory + market.The weapon handling and hit feedback is simply awesome. You can destroy armor pieces and shields by doing hard and fast swings. You can even stun enemies if you bash theyr helmet to stagger em. It it also very gory which also fits the setting. You can cut off limbs, heads etc. The combat is made in such way that it feels very realistic. Every swing/strike has an believable reaction.You get money from kills and there is a market where you can buy new weapons, shields, helmets and so on. You can also use enemy equip after you kill them. The game also includes ranged weapons and 2 handed weapons. The crow in the colosseum is fully animated and will throw food at you (for healing) if you put up a good fight, so you can stay longer in it :)Warning, this game is realy exhausting, it will have make you sweat buckets and you will likely die, not because you play bad, but because you will be to tired to swing another strike :P
